Santa Maria dell'Alto tower

Santa Maria dell'Alto is a coastal tower of Salento, located in the Municipality of Nardò and falls in Porto Selvaggio and Palude del Capitano's Park area. Situated 51 m above sea level, on a rocky outcrop overlooking the sea, it was built in the second half of the 16th century with defensive functions by project of the spanish viceroy Don Pedro de Toledo.
