Zollino (Tzuddinu in griko and in Salento dialect) is in the outback of Salento at 18 Km to the south of Lecce. It belongs to Grecìa Salentina, an area of nine municipalities where griko is spoken. Zollino's origins are still uncertain. Anyway the territory was inhabited since the prehistoric age as lots of megalithic monuments testify. In the ancient times Zollino was a strategic place as it was the centre of all the traffics between the Ionian and Adriatic coasts. The church of S. Peter and Paul apostles dating to the Byzantine Age; two menhir and dolmen of prehistoric time are suggested. The local festival of "Sagra della Sceblasti" is very famous and it takes place the 2nd and the 3rd August of every year.
