Fiumicelli tower
Fiumicelli Tower is located in the territory of Otranto near the Alimini Lakes' beaches. Situated on a 5 feet tall dune, is now at sea level, as a result of rising waters. It was built in 1582 by Martino Cayzza under the mandate of the then governor of Terra d'Otranto, Ferdinando Caracciolo to cope with the depredations of the Turks who had devastated the city of Otranto and a large part of Salento in 1480.
