Coastal Watchtowers / Roca Vecchia - Melendugno (LE)
Roca Vecchia tower
Built in 1568 by master Tommaso Garrapa, when the medieval city was already in ruins, it communicates with Torre San Foca to the north and Torre dell'Orso to the south and in 1576 Tamiano Antonio, prosecutor of Roca's University, has armed it with a musket, received by the Lecce's mayor. The tower today is in very bad conditions. The only room in the tower lacks two walls and part of the roof, while the material of which it is made is heavily deteriorated.
