D'Aquino di Casarano's palace
The D'Aquino baronial palace, feudal lords of the city from 1637 to the end of the 18th century, dates from the 17th century. It is currently known as De Lorenzi's palace, name of the owning family.
The building, residence of the most historically important of Casarano, was built on the ruins of an ancient castle. It has an elevation of over 50 meters long characterized by the monumental entrance portal and a long series of 53 shelves, with different masks to ward off evil. The shelves were supposed to sustain the balcony of the great hall of the palace, but the structure was never completed because, at the end of the 18th century, the D'Aquino family returned to Naples, his native city. Inside you can admire the small church dedicated to St. Anne.
