Palane tower
Palani tower (or Plane tower) is a work of fortification and defense situated in Marina Serra, a town in the Municipality of Tricase, in the province of Lecce. It falls within the Regional Natural Park Costa Otranto - Santa Maria di Leuca and Tricase Forest. Palani Tower is part of a system of towers along the coast, built in the 16th century to guard and defend the coast from Saracen raids. The tower, built with blocks of sandstone extracted locally, is 15m tall.
