Leporano is a town and comune in the Taranto province in the Apulia region of southeast Italy. The municipality of Leporano is a little maritime town at the Ionian sea and located southeast of Rome in the Province of Taranto. The town, known for the widely seen fortress "Castello Muscettola", the "Saturo" watch tower and the port of "Pirrone" has approximately 7.000 inhabitants and the surface is of 15 km², with a density of 385 persons per km². Distance: from Rome 440 km, from Florence 627 km and from Venice 694 km. The coat of arms of the township contains a red rabbit jumping on a blue background topped by a noble count's crown and at the bottom is surrounded by a green laurel wreath. Leporano is also famous for the aristocratic Italian family and house of the princes of Leporano.
