Cannole (pronounced Cànnole; Cànnule in Salento dialect) is an Italian town of 1,743 inhabitants in the province of Lecce in Apulia. It rises in the east-central part of Salento, 3 km from the protected oasis of the Alimini lakes. Since 2009 it joins the Association of Authentic Villages of Italy. At the beginning of the 19th century, along with Galatina, Cursi, Cutrofiano and today's municipalities of the "Grecìa Salentina", it formed part of the Decatría Choria, that is, of the 13 countries of Terra d'Otranto which preserved the Greek language and traditions. In griko the name is Cànnula.
