Statue of Aldo Moro

In 1998 was inaugurated a statue dedicated to Aldo Moro (the most illustrious citizen from Maglie) in the square adjacent to his birthplace, in the presence of President of the Republic Oscar Luigi Scalfaro. The statesman is portrayed with thoughtful look and holding a copy of the newspaper l'Unità, to remember how he always believed in the need for dialogue between his party (Christian Democrats) and the Communist Party, traditionally opposed.
