Coastal Watchtowers / Otranto (LE)
Sant'Emiliano's tower
It is a coastal tower of Salento, located on Otranto's coastline, halfway between Punta Palascìa and Porto Badisco. It is located 50 meters above sea level. Built in the 16th century during the reign of Charles V, it had defensive functions like all other coastal towers. It has a truncated cone shape and measures 9 meters in diameter. It needs a restoration, given the signs of abating.
