Mother Church

The Mother Church of Calimera, dedicated to the patron San Brizio, is a large building with a single nave built in 1689 on the ruins of an older temple, located in Piazza del Sole.
The interior contains nine altars with valuable paintings, such as the Madonna della Misericordia. Some hatches give access to underground tombs. Behind the church is a massive bell tower.
The altar is surmounted by an imposing statue of the Madonna Assunta.
The pipe organ, located behind the altar, was built in 2000 by Eligio Bevilacqua.
