Legari Palace
The building was built in 1536 in Renaissance style by the merchant Legari Donato, a native of Tricase, as evidenced by an inscription in Latin on the main elevation. This residence was mainly used as a gathering place for friends and acquaintances.
The facade has a portal with a round arch with an elegant frame that rests on two pillars with capitals. On the ground floor, there are four arched windows, while the main floor is animated by a succession of windows with architraves. The crown consists of a slightly projecting cornice with hanging arches on corbels.
The palace became the meeting place of the nobility and the wealthy bourgeoisie of the time: inside were held banquets, parties and gambling. Since 1986, the building is owned by the City and the town library and archive center.
