Roman amphitheatre
The Roman amphitheatre is a monument located in Piazza Sant'Oronzo and its dating is still under discussion and oscillates from the Augustan to the Trajan-Hadrian ages.
Along with the theater, it's the most expressive monument of the importance achieved by Lupiae, Lecce's Roman ancestor, between the 1st and 2nd centuries AD.
The monument was discovered during the construction of the Bank of Italy's building, made ??in the early '900, but only a third of the entire structure can be seen, because the rest is still hidden underground, beneath some buildings and Santa Maria della Grazia's church.
