Church of San Matteo
It is a baroque catholic place of worship of the historical center of Lecce, located in via Federico d'Aragona.
It was built in the second half of the 17th century, on the designs of Achille Larducci di Salò. It replaced an old 15th century chapel dedicated to the Apostle Matthew, which was attached to a Franciscan convent. It was started in 1667 and completed in 1700.
From 30 April 1810 is the seat of Santa Maria della Luce's parish, erected on March 16, 1606, in a church of the same name out of the walls and transferred here after the suppression of the Franciscan monastery.
