Church of Sant' Anna

The church, along with the conservatory of the same name, is a baroque construction of the historical center of Lecce, dating back to 1680.
It has a simple architectural structure and features the same compositional design of the cathedral's main facade, both designed by Giuseppe Zimbalo.
The facade, divided into two orders, is crowned by a tympanus and is concluded by a gabled roof.
The single nave interior has four chapels, whose altars are topped by fine paintings. Of major importance is the ceiling, decorated with geometric motifs and framed on either side by the coats of arms of the noble families of the girls who lived in the adjoining conservatory, next to the church, which was built so that the aristocratic women of Salento, the only ones with free access, could find asylum.
