Arigliano is, along with St. Dana, a hamlet of the town of Gagliano del Capo in the province of Lecce. The town, located in Salento at 8 km from Santa Maria di Leuca and 65 km from Lecce, is united with the center of Gagliano del Capo. According to historian Giacomo Arditi from Salento, the name derives from the Latin "ager Galiani" which means "Gagliano estate." The town was certainly inhabited since the Bronze Age, as evidenced by the two standing stones in the country.
