Greek fountain

The greek fountain is located in Gallipoli, near the bridge that connects the new town to the old town. This fountain is the oldest in Italy, and is said to have been built around the 3rd century BC. Some people such as Bernich, after years of study, debate and research, believe that the fountain was built in the renaissance.
It was originally placed in the ancient baths, now called 'fountains'. In 1548 it was transferred near the now disappeared St. Nicholas' church, where it remained until 1560; it was later dismantled again and rebuilt in the place where we see it today.
