Mozza tower
Mozza tower is a seaside resort located in south Salento, in the province of Lecce, and territorially belonging to the Municipality of Ugento. The tower was built by order of King Charles V in the 16th century. It was used for the defense of Salento's coasts against the Saracens' invasions; on the summit there was a pyre of wood that was lit in case of sightings and on the first floor there's a room where the sentries were placed, and they had horses at their disposal with which they could warn the population of the hinterland, including the capital of Ugento.
