Church of Sant'Antonio della Piazza
The church of Sant'Antonio della Piazza, also known as church of San Giuseppe, is a church of the historical center of Lecce, built in 1584.
The present forms of the building are not the original ones: in fact in 1765 the monks decided to enlarge the church, which corresponded to the present nave transept. On the left side of the church you can still see the original XVI century portal, which was the main entrance, and the rose window.
The table is divided into two orders, the order has a lower portal and two niches containing the statues of Sant'Antonio da Padova and San Giovanni da Capistrano. The higher order has a large window between two pilasters.
The interior has a Latin cross plan and five chapels.
